Sino-Canadian 1.5+1.5 Dual High School Degree Programme


I. <<1.5 + 1.5 Canadian International High School>> Project Introduction

As the call for "internationalization" of education grows louder and louder, the internationalization of education has shifted from the internationalization of higher education to the internationalization of basic education. The positioning of internationalization has shifted from focusing on cultivating students' ability to study abroad to cultivating all-round international talents with creativity.
1.5 + 1.5 Beijing New Bridge International High School Talent Training Program aims to cultivate excellent international high school comprehensive skills talents who understand Chinese culture and history, have a patriotic spirit, are caring and actively participate in social welfare activities, have a fairly high level of Chinese and English, and can complete high school courses in English and successfully enter mainstream universities in the world.
The project is a two-way exchange project jointly cooperated and managed by Beijing New Bridge Foreign Language School International Middle School and the Mission Public School District of Canada. Both parties jointly undertake teaching tasks.

II. Introduction to the Project Sponsor

Beijing New Bridge Foreign Language School (Beijing Education Registration No. 2000-25) was established in 1996. It is a Sino-US comprehensive high school approved by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission. It is also one of the schools in Beijing that is qualified to recruit foreign students. The school has an international high school department, a domestic department, an international IB project MYP junior high school department, a foreign student department, and a language training department. It is a modern school that integrates Chinese and Western cultures. Beijing New Bridge Foreign Language School is a diversified high school approved by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission that can offer international courses and Chinese domestic academic courses for both Chinese and foreign students. The North American International High School Course of Beijing New Bridge Foreign Language School is offered in cooperation with high schools in the United States and Canada. The carefully designed international high school course integrates the core knowledge of the Chinese high school course, the concept of the International Baccalaureate Organization's IB course, and the teaching materials of the American high school AP course, laying a solid foundation for students to study in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom in terms of English proficiency, thinking, emotions, and academic level.
The Mission District School District is a public school district in Canada, located in the east of Vancouver, Canada, the world's first most livable city. There are 13 elementary schools and three key public high schools (including junior high schools and high schools), two French elementary schools and one French high school in this area. International students come from Germany, Japan, and South Korea, with a ratio of 10:1. The Mission District has an excellent reputation for good public security and care for students. Each school in the Mission District has excellent programs, a caring environment for students, and an experienced and highly qualified teaching staff. Mission enjoys a good reputation for care, qualifications and innovation. In addition to the advantages in academic courses, each school in the district also provides a wide range of programs and services to meet the diverse needs and interests of our students.


III. The project is divided into two parts:

 The first 1.5 is a course for Chinese students to adapt to the stage, and the last 1.5 courses are directly connected to Canadian high schools from grades 10 to 12.
 For all domestic high school students (grades 10-12) who enter Beijing New Bridge, students will study at Beijing New Bridge Foreign Language School for 1.5 years, then study at Canada Mission Key High School for 1.5 years to graduate and enter university. All students in the program will obtain both Chinese and foreign high school diplomas.

IV. Features and advantages of the program

1. Program graduates will be successfully admitted to mainstream universities in North America and the UK, and students with excellent grades will be admitted to top universities in the world)
After completing their studies, qualified students of <<1.5 + 1.5 Canadian International High School Talent Training Program>> can directly apply for world-renowned universities in the United States, Canada, and the UK. The International Department of Beijing New Bridge School cooperates with the International Department of Mission Education Bureau to provide guidance, visas, and application services for students' future universities. Students studying at 1.5 + 1.5 Canadian International High School will enjoy the resources of all cooperative foreign universities in the program.

2. Advantages of Dual Diplomas
Project students will obtain dual Chinese and foreign high school diplomas upon graduation. We cultivate international talents not only for the world but also for the nation. Dual high school diploma holders will be favored by more international key universities. Project students will register as Chinese and foreign students after entering this project. The student status management is the same for both China and foreign countries.

3. Professional teaching team
All teachers of 1.5 + 1.5 Canadian International High School are from both China and foreign countries, of which foreign teachers account for 60%-70%, and Chinese teachers are all front-line teachers with foreign master's degrees or above (please see the attachment for the project's professional teaching team).

4. Course advantages
The 1.5+1.5 project is designed for the characteristics of Chinese students. Chinese students often feel uncomfortable when they directly enter foreign universities or high schools to study, which is often manifested in their lack of English proficiency, hands-on ability, comprehensive skills, thinking and creativity. However, they have strong mathematical and physical abilities. In the 1.5 Chinese course teaching, we strengthen the training of students' English proficiency, while focusing on the cultivation of individuality and expertise. In science teaching, we focus on grasping, cultivating and giving full play to the characteristics of Chinese students who are strong in science, so that they will have confidence and preparation when they enter the Canadian stage of the course in the last 1.5 years, and keep pace with foreign students in language courses and other subjects in the last 1.5 years. Another major advantage of this project is the method of experiencing foreign education in China, so that they can smoothly enter future studies.

5. Advanced teaching mode
All project students enjoy remote teaching classrooms provided by both Chinese and foreign parties. We take the same class with foreign students, and we also provide university preparatory point-to-point virtual teaching for our project students.

6. Class capacity and teacher-student ratio
The class capacity is 15-20 people, and the teacher-student ratio is 1:4

7. Scholarship for outstanding students
We set up scholarships for outstanding students in this project. For the amount and standard of the scholarship, please refer to the implementation standards and rules of the Beijing New Bridge Foreign Language School International High School Scholarship.

8. This project is open to all students.
Unlike IB and A Level courses, this project is aimed at students who are willing to study abroad and are willing to work hard for it. Our philosophy is to cultivate international talents from "normal" to "extraordinary".

9. Value-added services of the project
This project also provides many elective courses for project students, such as SAT courses for American college entrance examinations, college preparatory courses (AP) and music and art courses. All project students can take the above courses offered in our school for free.

10. International campus and management
This project is carried out at the Lai Guangying International Campus of Beijing New Bridge Foreign Language School. The campus is American-style middle school, the school facilities are international, and the ratio of foreign teachers to Chinese teachers is 60%:40%.

11. Accommodation and shuttle bus
We have full-time accommodation teachers for boarding students. In addition to counseling students, they also provide active guidance and help to boarding students on many issues. We maintain close contact with parents and will communicate with them regularly to participate in student management. We have established a three-way communication platform for the school, students and parents.
For those students who live in the school, we provide a series of weekend activities, advanced learning clubs and special courses. In addition to the above resources, our faculty and staff will regularly organize various activities, and students can use the multi-purpose gymnasium and fitness equipment (including aerobic gym, weight room, dance studio) seven days a week. The school shuttle is responsible for picking up teachers' students on a regular basis and is responsible for all student travel activities.
